It’s been far too long since we’ve heard from CASA (formerly Casa Castile) but the wait was worth it. I sure hope there’s a full album behind this single because this one went into heavy rotation immediately.
Real Yawny – EP
Weirdo glitchy pop is always a fun gem to encounter and even better when it stems from Nashville. I suggest starting with “Oh†– that crazy beat is not to be missed.
Adia Victoria “Dead Eyes†(Late Show with Stephen Colbert)
Congratulations to Adia Victoria and her band for for their network television debut on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. It’s a great horn-backed version of “Dead Eyes†from Beyond the Bloodhounds.Â

Volume 75
The seventy-fifth installment of a podcast feels like it’s worth taking note of, right? So, in tribute to the past, here’s a podcast of a bunch of musicians that you may have come up with in the Nashville scene or maybe missed entirely. This is, by no means, an exhaustive compilation of all the greatness that came from this time period but it’s a nice nostalgic peek.
Volume 75
75 episodes of this podcast. That seems like a lot so I’m taking a moment to reflect back on some of the artists of the days of yore. You know, early 2000’s-ish. It’s a throwback episode! Everyone loves a bit of nostaliga.

William Tyler, Modern Country
In the future, when people reference That Nashville Sound, let’s hope they mean this kind of music (among others).Â
The By Gods “Phone Callsâ€
The lover’s lament throughout this track becomes a rallying cry – Please pick up my phone calls! The full EP of the same name, Phone Calls, will be availably early July.
Kansas Bible Company – Paper Moon
American Songwriter has a nice piece on Kansas Bible Company’s new album, Paper Moon, in which they describe their new approach to songwriting; focusing on the basics instead of the textures first. It’s a sensible way of doing things that certainly is working for them. The new album, produced by Skylar Wilson, turned out great. Give it a spin.
Leagues “Dance with Meâ€
Listen to the first track from Leagues forthcoming second album, Alone Together (Sept 9th release). Optimism isn’t easy in music but they’re managing to pull of a huge, booming sound with a rallying chorus pretty smoothly.

Diarrhea Planet – Turn to Gold
NPR has a full stream of the forthcoming Diarrhea Planet record, Turn to Gold.Â
Makeup and Vanity Set – Brigador (Volume I)
I don’t know how he does it but Makeup and Vanity Set is pumping out records at a lightning pace and they’re all equally compelling and diverse from one another.Â
Brigador (Volume I) is the score to the Stellar Jockey’s game of the same name (available on Steam) and is available for streaming everywhere now and limited edition vinyl pre-order.
