Blank Range – Vista Bent

Happy to see Blank Range return after three years of quiet. The new EP has a decidedly alt-Americana vibe to it, fully embracing some of the bands previous country leanings but never fully letting go of their rock roots. Listening to “Gardens” feels like the band has gone full-in on the country vibe but that’s quickly undone with the passionate, decidedly non-country, cries of “Linger On.”

In the same way that Dr. Dog walks the line between country, Americana and rock, Blank Range seems to have their footing by embracing that diversity.

Creature Comfort “Teeth for Days”

It’s unclear if this track was just waiting to be released or if the band wrote it in a fury in the last week but “Teeth for Days” feel like an appropriate response to the Trump election. It’s an upbeat number that doesn’t exactly harp on the topic  but might provide a little catharsis as we’re coming down.

Volume 78

I honestly struggled putting together this podcast because the mix of genres really runs a wide gamut. From hip-hop to indie rock to post-apocalyptic electronic songs to bedroom rock to metal and more. It’s almost too much but the variety of it all is a proud reminder of how great “Country Music USA” really is.

Volume 78

wott78

An eclectic gathering of new(ish) music from the Nashville area. I’m extremely happy of how varied and genre spanning ole “Country Music USA” can actually get. This 30 minute set literally jumps from hip-hop to indie rock to dystopian electronic music to country music and metal. There was a time when no one would have ever expected that from us.

Loving this new “boom-bap beat tape” from Ducko McFli. If the first two tracks don’t grab you, stick with it and you’ll be hooked by the time “PK Ripper” hits!
