Jessi Zazu + Kathy Wariner, Undefeated
As you are likely aware, Jessi Zazu of Those Darlins has been undergoing some pretty intense cancer treatment the past few months. If you haven’t been following her journey over on Instagram, please go catch up at your earliest convenience. Her Ain’t Afraid campaign (and shirts) are just the tip of how inspiring and strong she has been through the ordeal.
On June 17th she’ll have an art show open over at the Julia Martin Gallery featuring works she created herself and with her mother, Kathy Wariner. Proceeds from the event will go towards her mounting medical bills and serve as a meeting place for others who have faced similar battles.

Imagine yourself on the beach. You find a boombox, a rubber duck, a delightful couch and a toilet. You take them. You venture inside your cabin. You place them inside your empty room. You venture out again to find a CRT television. Rinse and repeat. Also, you’re a bear.
That’s indie game Decoral. Is it pointless? Maybe. Regardless, it’s got an Original Soundtrack from Drew Swisher that is maybe the highlight of the experience. It’s akin to elevator music but in that pleasant way, where you’re walking on the beach and find a toilet.
Clear Plastic Masks “Take a Little Dragâ€
ICYMI, here’s the official video for Clear Plastic Masks “Take a Little Drag†off their latest album, Nazi Hologram. The video is a pleasant enough – capturing the band driving around town mixed with some animation – but the song is really The Thing; a somber musing on letting go.

Farout Fest 2017
Mark your calendars for June 16th and 17th to partake in the first Far Out Fest, a two day festival of bands, DJ’s and “one of a kind†marketplace taking place between Cobra and The East Room. You can read more about the undertaking on their official site but just have a gander at the list of bands playing and you’ll be convinced it’s a good idea to attend.

Kelsey Kopecky “I Don’t Knowâ€
Remember the band Kopecky? Well, the namesake of said group is Kelsey Kopecky and she’s forged out on her own to record a brand new EP entitled Babysitter Worktapes. It’s out on June 16 but you can preview the first bit of “lo-fi dream pop†from the recordings with this Mike Kluge directed video for “I Don’t Know.â€Â

BRiLeY “Yeah ok.â€
It’s just one song but, damn, this ambient diddy from BRiLeY is taking me there. Hopefully there’s more spacey goodness like this in the works.
Savoy Motel “Western Version Boogieâ€
I’m just now seeing the latest video from Savoy Motel and their track “Western Version Boogie†(this is what happens when you start a VEVO account no one is subscribed to). Unlike any of the previous videos, this one really feels like a band having fun. Lots of hidden smirks, ridiculous guitar licks, bongo playing and camera whips throughout make it hard to look away. Maybe that’s all part of their master plan but I’m fine with falling for it. These guys got the goods.

COIN “I Don’t Wanna Danceâ€
I was fully prepared to loathe the latest from COIN, assuming that the band was an overly-aesthetic-with-no-substance undertaking. My skepticism was fully charged. But having watched the video for “I Don’t Wanna Danceâ€, I stand fully corrected. Sure, there are some haircuts in there that you could be justifiably enraged by but the song is upbeat goodness cut with the tiniest bit of melancholy. The band is outfitted in Nudie Suits and explores portions of Nashville that often go largely neglected (are they inside the General Jackson? Please say yes).Â
TLDR; despite what you might think, the latest from COIN is pleasant on the ears and eyes.

Daddy Issues – Deep Dream
Congrats to Daddy Issues on the release of the full-length album, Deep Dream. If you’re anything like me (i.e. old), you’ll hear echoes of 90′s Rock throughout this – an excellent fusion of catchy pop, empowered messages and big riff rock.
Listen to Deep Dream just about anywhere you like to listen to music. I suggest Spotify, Bandcamp or limited edition vinyl.
Magnetic Forces – The Vision on Multiple Occasions
There’s plenty of worthwhile rapping on the latest full-length from Magnetic Forces but I’m heavily enjoying the instrumental tracks and beats that draw from a load of 70′s R&B, Funk and Soul and often hilarious samples layered deftly together.Â
The first half of the record has a great summery vibe; an excellent soundtrack for scorching yourself inside an overly humid car and driving around.
Phantom Farmer – “Cross Town Kidsâ€
Brand new Phantom Farmer track and gorgeously shot video was just released. The song comes from a forthcoming album that’s almost done and will be delivered to us all in the not-so-distant future. There’s a perfect melancholy vibe to the track that’s matched perfect with the Drew Bourdet directed piece. Don’t miss it.
