  • The Features will be selling their brand new EP (recorded by Jacquire King) at this show. In fact, you can pre-order it now.

I’m going to be there. I hope somebody cool like Jetpack, The Comfies, Slack, The Privates, any band on Theory 8, or the Clutters opens.

  • Already pre-ordered mine… I’m anxious to hear how the recording of “I Will Wander” turned out.

    Thu August 17, 2006 at 3:46 pm
  • i would definitely dig on, say, jetpack opening…though any of those bands would make for a killer bill. as for a slack/features combo, carl, just wait on that for a little longer…

  • Jakob has insider information that I don’t???? This can’t be!!

    Fri August 18, 2006 at 4:01 pm
  • You’re slippin up, Carl…or jakob is full of shit. it Could go either way.

    Fri August 18, 2006 at 10:28 pm
  • Hehe, you are slippin’ up, Carl.

    Fri August 18, 2006 at 11:28 pm
  • does “dig on” now mean “i have confirmed information about”? Did I miss something?

    Sat August 19, 2006 at 1:57 am
    mm
  • I believe “dig on” still means “I would really enjoy it”, although I could be completely mistaken.

    Sat August 19, 2006 at 6:59 am
  • nah, i don’t think that’s what carl was referring to (in reference to my post).

    Sun August 20, 2006 at 1:51 am
  • The “dig on” part is in a separate sentence from the one that alludes to insider information, so I’d say it’s unrelated. As far as the insider information goes, it’s not all that insidery if you’ve read the slack tour blog. So yes, yewknee, you did miss something.

  • Ahhhhhh… Jakob was talking about the split vinyl that Slack and The Features will be releasing. Clever.

    Mon August 21, 2006 at 1:10 pm
  • yea, i knew about the split. It’s on Heatstroke Records right?

    Mon August 21, 2006 at 2:52 pm
    mm
  • haha, yeah, it will be…an exclusive song from the features and i believe one of the songs slack recorded w/ nick r. at studio 606 (*cough*ObligatoryFooFightersNamedrop*cough*). funnily enough, i had no idea word was out about that yet. i was hoping to announce that with a redesign of the heatstroke page myself, but hey, play with fire and you shall be burned…

granted i still have a few more tricks up my sleeve that i don’t think any of you are aware of yet…but if you are, please don’t whip me again, i didn’t mean to be sneaky. :( :( :(

  • by the way, i’m going to be in nashville from august 31st to september 4th. some awesome band really needs to play a show then.

    Tue August 22, 2006 at 1:45 pm
  • September 1st The Evengelicals (from Norman “Home of the Flaming Lips”,OK) and Stone Jack Jones are playing at Grand Palace. It should be WAY awesome…

    Tue August 22, 2006 at 9:04 pm
  • I’m surprised that a certain upcoming event hasn’t been gossiped about on here yet…

    Wed August 23, 2006 at 12:13 pm
  • STEVIE STEVE: THE INSTIGATOR.

    Wed August 23, 2006 at 12:27 pm
  • ALSO, STEVIE STEVE: give me a call sometime soon, i need to talk to you and my cellphone screen broke. if you don’t have it, just email me or some crap. thx mang.

    Wed August 23, 2006 at 12:28 pm
  • Steve, I am curious as to how many people know about said event. I’d assume a lot but it is odd that no one is mentioning it.

  • I think it’s pretty damn cool that it hasn’t been discussed yet. I know if I were going I wouldn’t want the whole damn town knowing about it.

By the way, I found out like a month ago. That’s how awesome I am.

    Wed August 23, 2006 at 2:54 pm
  • I found out before they even thought to book it.

    Wed August 23, 2006 at 4:40 pm

  • ok, that’s it! thanks a lot guys. you’ve completely ruined it. now everybody in town knows about the features’ plans to do a one night only collaboration with paula cole at the jungle tonight at 10pm. now that the word’s out they’ll probably cancel it. shit. and that “where have all the cowboys gone?/drawing board” remixed joint was going to be off the chain. gah.

(ps-if you guys are trying to keep a tally of how many people are awesom…uh, i mean how many people know, i got at least 3 e-mails about it. so i’d say a lot.)

    Wed August 23, 2006 at 4:41 pm
  • I’m so awesome that I know about both of the awesome things coming up. If you only know about the one awesome thing, then you are only part awesome.

    Wed August 23, 2006 at 4:54 pm
  • I already have the “Where Have all the Cowboys Gone?/Drawing Board” mash-up on VINYL. It doesn’t get any cooler than that.

    Wed August 23, 2006 at 5:00 pm
  • you’re all going to hell. each and every one of you. :(

    Thu August 24, 2006 at 2:42 am
  • Jesus, I am so out of the loop.

    Thu August 24, 2006 at 8:44 am
  • I guess the other secret’s out since Grand Palace just posted a Myspace bulletin.

    Thu August 24, 2006 at 1:45 pm
  • Yeah, that really surprises me. From what I understood it was just going to be a “practice in front of some friends” type thing tonight. But then i saw the bulletin and email and was like, “whaaaat? they let the cat out of the bag on purpose?!?” Oh well Matt, now we can’t feel as awesome anymore.

    Thu August 24, 2006 at 4:07 pm
  • hey i was feeling awesome too. about both things.

it’s going to be really really crowded now that grand palace unpacked their cat. i’m not looking forward to pushing my way through all those people at all.

oh well. don’t forget to bring cash for record shopping. i love you, grand palace.

    Thu August 24, 2006 at 4:35 pm
  • To paraphrase the great philosopher Nemesisboy, I’ve got three words for “secret” shows: G-A-Y.

    Thu August 24, 2006 at 5:46 pm
  • click my name for video from the show?

it wasn’t too secret, but i had a pretty good time. no “thursday”, though?

    Fri August 25, 2006 at 1:13 am
  • Excellent work, Davis. Thanks for posting. I think last night will be on my most memorable Grand Palace moments…

    Fri August 25, 2006 at 11:20 am
  • WOW!? No Thursday? I guess that’s not too out of the ordinary for an opening set, but I wonder if they’ve retired it (finally). It would be a bad move, though, considering it’s still the most talked-about song for new fans.

    Fri August 25, 2006 at 12:30 pm
  • it’s a good closer.

    Fri August 25, 2006 at 12:45 pm
  • by the way, the “TBA” opener is Young Professionals, the new band from aaron robinson (formerly Imaginary Baseball League). what a fucking night! god i wish i could be there. just some 10 days off…: /

    Fri August 25, 2006 at 11:36 pm
  • YES!!! Although not on my above list of requested openers, this makes me extremely happy.

    Sat August 26, 2006 at 9:38 am
  • are you making the trip, carl?

    Sat August 26, 2006 at 11:18 am
  • As stated in the first comment of the thread, yes I will. I had already made plans to be there when I was told about the show. In fact, one reason I’ll be in town will be to attend the wedding of one of Aaron’s former bandmates.

    Sat August 26, 2006 at 1:46 pm
  • well i’m sorry for not doing my “thread homework,” dr. carl!

…in any case, i’m sure it’s gonna be a hell of a time. curse you september 1st weekend, and your utter lack of decent shows!

    Sat August 26, 2006 at 2:45 pm
  • That new Features song sounds curiously like a song by another murfreesboro band that is playing with them soon. hmmmmm.
Damnit Denis, you are so contagious.

    Sun August 27, 2006 at 7:10 pm
  • All you people suck.
    Who are The Young Professionals?

    Thu September 7, 2006 at 5:07 pm
  • Sorry, now I see comment #35– I quit reading about halfway down because I got tired of the “I know more than you know” discussion.

    Plus they’re on MySpace: http://www.myspace.com/youngprofessionalsband
