The Plastic Bags – Shredneck

The dulcet tones of grunge and stoner rock are alive and well, as well exhibited by the newest from The Plastic Bags. It’s a laid back, big riff undertaking with just the right amount of ‘catchy’ thrown in for the chorus. I highly suggest starting with “Legal Limit.”

Songs 2 Dance 2 “Swipe Right”

As you can likely tell from the band and song title, this is not to be taken too seriously. If you’re into the butt rock of Party Cannon and their ilk, I suspect this will be right up your alley. You know, people having stupid fun making music – nothin` wrong with that. (Source: https://www.youtube.com/)

City Limit Tapes – Nashville EDM

Clearly I enjoyed the previous two entries in the City Limit Tapes series exploring Nashville music but this mix (and the next) are particularly interesting as they are more foreign to me. EDM, as a genre, is not something that I really spend much time with but it’s great to see a tracklisting so long […]

The By Gods “On the Radio”

Good news everyone! The By Gods have released the first track off their forthcoming January 22nd release, Get On Feelings. I’m going to go way out on a limb and predict it’s a collection of heavy hitting rock songs with a tendency to veer towards 90′s rock conventions while still feeling modern, relevant and enjoyable. […]

The Features “Connie”

Did you back the new Features album, Sunset Rock? Because if you did, you should have your digital copy of it by now and it’s a great listen. Feels like a bit of a throwback to The Beginning in many ways. If you did not, make haste and order the album and listen to “Connie” […]

City Limit Tapes – Nashville (Indie Dance)

Another quality mix from Atlanta’s DJ Skarface exploring the non-Country, non-SingerSongwriter side of Nashville. This entry in his series takes on the Indie Dance realm with bits of tracks from Cherub, Wild Cub, DotCom, Jensen Sportag and a host of others.

JEFF the Brotherhood “Mary of Silence”

If I’m reading my press release correctly, the new JEFF the Brotherhood record, Global Chakra Rhythms, is released on November 13th. This first preview track, “Mary of Silence” is a nice bit of insight into the psychedelic vibe it contains. This is the JEFF I’m a big fan of – the more psychedelic, somewhat darker […]

City Limit Tapes – Nashville (Rock)

There’s a series of mix tapes (of which I will post all of over the next week) that showcases different acts from the Nashville area outside of the stereotypical assumption of what Nashville *sounds* like.  This is the same cause that We Own This Town has its eye on so I full support this endeavor. […]

PUJOL “Designer Feelings”

This is the first PUJOL release that, to me, seems to retract a bit of the snarl of previous releases. I don’t want to call this a Softer Pujol but that IS what I’m calling this. It’s still plenty of his signature frantic energy but it feels like manic and more in line with the […]

Timid Death “Knowledge is Stupid”

You know what I always say? Nashville needs its own version of GWAR. Prayers have now been answered in the form of Timid Death. Let’s hope it just gets more absurd from here. (Source: https://www.youtube.com/)

Forget Cassettes – Beth Demos, Vol I In early November, limited edition cassettes containing demonstration recordings spanning from 2006 to 2013. You can hear “NICHOLAS” right now and more on the way soon.Â
