Organ Stills “Eyes Closed”

How about a little bit of dreamy indie rock for your Friday? Organ Stills is a new name in Nashville but their members have been playing around town for over a decade. It’s only one track released so far but I’m certainly curious to hear the full EP as it fits with the current winter-y […]

Linear Downfall – Sufferland

Here’s what I love about Linear Downfall; they’ve found the perfect blend of pleasant, ethereal vocals and absolutely brutal sound onslaughts. “Violence” is a great example of this drift between enjoyably dreamy and nightmarish hellscape. That’s a compliment. There’s a lot to digest on this album but it’s worth the reward.

Phoul – Sunday Mourning

I dunno about you but I’m really feeling the onset of winter. Dreary rains, dropping temperatures and all sorts of reasons to stay indoors. The full-length release from Phoul, Sunday Mourning, really helps augment those desires. It’s a soft, small feeling, collection of bedroom pop musings. The melancholy runs deep throughout these thirteen songs but […]

Chrome Pony “Eugene”

Great new karaoke themed video from Chrome Pony that gets more and more addled as it progresses. Oh, and the song is worth a listen or three as well. Also a nice reminder to listen to their 2014 release, You Are the Pisces. (Source: https://www.youtube.com/)

City Limit Tapes – Nashville Hip-Hop

The final entry (for now) in the series of City Limit Tapes mixes exploring Nashville music. I know Nashville has a thriving hip-hop scene but I don’t find myself hearing too much of it outside of a handful of artists. Listening to this is a real education of the scene and I am thankful for […]

Forget Cassettes “Cold & Sparkling”

Another track from the Forget Cassettes compilation of demo records – Beth Demos, Vol I – has been released. I hear they’re closing in on being sold out of tapes, so if you haven’t pre-ordered yet you should do so soon!

The Plastic Bags – Shredneck

The dulcet tones of grunge and stoner rock are alive and well, as well exhibited by the newest from The Plastic Bags. It’s a laid back, big riff undertaking with just the right amount of ‘catchy’ thrown in for the chorus. I highly suggest starting with “Legal Limit.”

Songs 2 Dance 2 “Swipe Right”

As you can likely tell from the band and song title, this is not to be taken too seriously. If you’re into the butt rock of Party Cannon and their ilk, I suspect this will be right up your alley. You know, people having stupid fun making music – nothin` wrong with that. (Source: https://www.youtube.com/)

City Limit Tapes – Nashville EDM

Clearly I enjoyed the previous two entries in the City Limit Tapes series exploring Nashville music but this mix (and the next) are particularly interesting as they are more foreign to me. EDM, as a genre, is not something that I really spend much time with but it’s great to see a tracklisting so long […]

The By Gods “On the Radio”

Good news everyone! The By Gods have released the first track off their forthcoming January 22nd release, Get On Feelings. I’m going to go way out on a limb and predict it’s a collection of heavy hitting rock songs with a tendency to veer towards 90′s rock conventions while still feeling modern, relevant and enjoyable. […]

The Features “Connie”

Did you back the new Features album, Sunset Rock? Because if you did, you should have your digital copy of it by now and it’s a great listen. Feels like a bit of a throwback to The Beginning in many ways. If you did not, make haste and order the album and listen to “Connie” […]
