Trixie Whitley

TRIXIE WHITLEY – Saturday, February 9th @ 5PM
Trixie Whitley is a hell of a blues-drenched singer with soul to match. She’s the daughter of much-missed musical shamen Chris Whitley and she first burst into public consciousness in 2011 as the lead singer of Black Dub, super-producer Daniel Lanois’ project, blowing people away with a voice and presence beyond her now-25 years. Her debut album, “Fourth Corner” is out today. It was recorded in New York with producer/keyboardist Thomas Bartlett (aka Doveman, who’s also worked with Glen Hansard, Antony and the Johnsons, Grizzly Bear and the National) engineer Pat Dillett (David Byrne, St. Vincent, Mary J. Blige), and with string arrangements by Rob Moose (Antony, Bon Iver). It’s a stunner and already generating significant buzz. We’re excited to welcome Trixie to Grimey’s for a free, all ages in-store on Feb. 9 at 5PM. She’ll be performing later that evening at The Basement.
