Speaking of young Daniel from Meemaw, his first solo effort will come in the form split cassette release via Infinity Cat. While the wide-eyed and excitable simplicity he and the his Meemaw cronies exude is fortunately intact, this pair of tunes are a definite departure in sound. Synths, handclaps, tambourines and weird little loops & samples serve to soften his punk rock tendencies, bringing his pop melodies front and center. Download “Jimmie Rogers” below and hear for yourself.
Unfortunately, not much good can be said of the cassette’s flip-side, featuring two “songs” from former Be Your Own Pet bass man, Nathan Vasquez and a fellow named Ivan Doershuk. Basically, it sounds like a couple of overly stoned kids, making noise in a room with a distorted guitar and a buddy drum kit. I’m sure someone out there finds merit in such madness, but not me. Being a pop guy at heart, I need a good tune to go with my noise. Maybe I’m just disappointed knowing just how big of an XTC fan Nathan is and had hoped he’d deliver some tunes. Then again, maybe I’m just getting too damn old.
Anyway, keep your eyes peeled for this tape from the good ol’ Infinity Cat crew in the near future. And with that, you should probably go ahead pick up a cassette deck since I’m pretty sure you gave yours to Goodwill a couple years ago.

those tracks on this specific demo just had jams of Nathan’s on it that he hadn’t finished rerecording. So, the actual tape has slicker, sexier, more refined tracks that will leave your ear fortress in XTC.
Weezy.
