Lake Fever Productions and the Colvert Update

Lake Fever Productions

Lake Fever Productions has been busy. Aside from the relaunching of their own site and the announcement of a collaboration with Tugboat Productions resulting in the forthcoming Lake Fever Sessions, they’ve actually been recording bands. You know, what a studio is best at doing? Joe Baine Colvert was kind enough to give the lowdown on 2008 Lake Fever activities as well as a glimpse into 2009. You can read all about that further into the post.

Well 2008 has turned out to be an incredible year for Lake Fever. Long hours and late nights were put in this year working on so many stellar projects.

We had the pleasure of recording some of this year’s coolest releases such as Tommy & the Whale’s Shot for the Moon, Ocelots’ The Cellar & the Ghost Have Let Us Down, How I Became the Bomb’s Who Dares Wins, and Vovo’s Lighter Side of Life (with our boy Loney John Hutchins at the helm). John put the final mastering touches on an insane amount of albums as well. Of note to WOTT readers include Ghostfinger’s The Feeler, The Explorers Club’s Freedom Wind, and the soon-to-be released debut LP’s from Those Darlins and This Modern Station.

Over the past 12 months, we’ve also worked with a number of excellent artists including The Selmanaires, Luisa Lopez, Howlies, Coral Castles, Matt Pelham from The Features, Kevin Ferriman, Schylar Shoates, and most recently, Roman Candle, Michael Harrell & Codaphonic. And of course, we had to check our fan-boy tendencies out on the streets of Music Row when we had the honor of recording four tunes with Superdrag and then again when Silver Jews came in to track Lookout Mountain Lookout Sea. All in all, we were able to play it quite cool and not get too giddy around these clients. What can I say? We’re just total pros!

With 2009 closely coming up upon us, we’ll be off to a fast start producing LP’s from Knoxville’s The Young along with the solo debut from Woody Paul Chrisman, he of Riders in the Sky notoriety. We’re also excited that Volume II: Foremost Sentinel the second free digital release from How I Became the Bomb will be unveiled upon the masses on New Years Day. Be prepared.

Then on January 9th we’ll be launching our in-studio performance series, Lake Fever Sessions. We’ve partnered with our video doppelganger, Tugboat Productions, to collaborate on a series of live performances from some of the best acts from the area and beyond. Be sure to check out lakefeversesions.com on a regular basis for performance videos from all your favorites. Kicking things off, we’ll be featuring videos from Elle Macho, Roman Candle collaborating with Keegan Dewitt, The Privates & Those Darlins.

We’re creeping into our fourth year of being here on Music Row and things have never looked better. And for that, we are truly blessed.

Best,
Joe Baine Colvert

We Own This Town is also particularly pleased to announce that Joe Baine Colvert will begin some semi-regular posting duties here on the site about any and all subjects that tickle his proverbial fancy. We hope it’s proverbial anyway.
